PATNA: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on Nitish Kumar after Bihar government reportedly reduced the number of holidays for the state’s schools during the Hindu festivals.The state education department, as per reports, issued the holiday calendar for 2024.

While the holidays for Hartalika Teej and Jitiya have been done away with, the holidays for Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha (Bakrid) have been increased to three days each."The Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government has shown an anti-Hindu face and taken a decision to hurt the sentiments of the Hindus...The holidays for Hindu festivals have been selectively slashed, while holidays for Muslim festivals have been increased," reported ANI quoting BJP MP Sushil Modi.Stating that Hindu holidays have been slashed while Muslim festival holidays have been increased, Union minister Giriraj Singh said, "This clearly shows that Nitish Kumar-led Bihar Govt is working in the state on the basis of Islamic religious beliefs...CM Nitish Kumar will have to suffer in the upcoming elections if these holidays are not reinstated..."Terming Nitish Kumar as the leader of appeasement and Kursi Kumar of Bihar, Union minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey alleged that once again, the anti-Hindu face of the government of 'Chacha-Bhatija' has come to the fore.In a post on social media platform X, the veteran BJP leader said, "On one hand, holidays for Muslim festivals are being extended in schools, while holidays for Hindu festivals are being abolished.
