Medical practitioners have observed a surge in patients with colds, coughs, asthma, and other related ailments at district hospitals and health facilities.
Particularly vulnerable are children, the elderly, and pregnant women, who are bearing the brunt of the severe cold.To combat the harsh conditions, residents in various parts of the district are resorting to open fires for warmth.
Some local authorities are contributing by providing free firewood, as well as distributing blankets and other warm clothing.
