Sri Lanka Police, in tandem with the Army, Navy and the Special Task Force (STF), have arrested 863 more suspects during a 24-hour countrywide anti-drug operation ending at 12.30 a.m.

today (Jan.12).The Ministry of Public Security said 303 grams of heroin, 141 grams of crystal methamphetamine (‘Ice’) and 1,250 narcotic pills were taken into custody during the aforesaid period.Meanwhile, 19 drug addicts who were among the arrestees have been sent for rehabilitation and detention orders were secured against 24 suspects for further interrogations.Additionally, 39 suspects who were on the list of registered suspects of the Police Narcotics Bureau and the Police Special Task Force have been arrested during the special police operation.The drugs impounded during the latest island-wide raids include:303g 384mg of heroin 141g 750mg of crystal methamphetamine (‘Ice’) 10kg 565g of cannabis 660,573 cannabis plants 542g of ‘Mawa’ 29g of ‘Thul’ 234 narcotic pills
